People have always come first at TOP. Wherever we operate, we work to become a contributing member of the places we join, not simply to be present within them. A heritage in materials.
Our first generation built operating expertise and a partner network in the Indonesian bauxite trade — a quiet, long-cycle inheritance that would shape everything to come.
Founding TOP — and becoming Malaysia's largest bauxite exporter.
In 2014, led by our CEO Dato' Victor Tan, the second generation founded TOP International. Within a year, we were Malaysia's largest bauxite exporter — and the work that defines the company today had begun.
Setting roots in West Africa.
In 2016, we ventured into Guinea — establishing a contract mining operation, becoming the first and only non-MNC mining operator in the country. The move marked TOP's first chapter as a global resources business.
Becoming an integrated business.
Through the late 2010s and early 2020s, we diversified into coal, copper, iron ore and nickel, and built proprietary port and road infrastructure in Guinea — turning a trading business into a vertically integrated one.
Scaling for the next decade.
With Kimbo Port Phase 2 complete in 2023, and new global partnerships forged through 2024, the company now ships at scale to buyers across the world — and is investing in the new ventures that will carry us through the next chapter.

Restoring what we take from the earth.
After every extraction phase in Guinea, we restore the land — replanting indigenous species, returning soil productivity, and funding local farming initiatives. The cashew trees we have planted now provide sustainable income for families near our concessions long after mining concludes.
